About the role

Neel-Schaffer is a design firm with offices in nine states, offering a dynamic environment where professionals can collaborate, innovate, and grow. This position is available in Birmingham or Tuscaloosa, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Review and direct inspection duties of all project inspectors
  • Act as the Assistant Project Manager
  • Perform skilled sub-professional engineering work in the field and office
  • Survey and draft, applying to document and inspect construction projects

Requirements

  • Eight years of experience in construction inspection, surveying, or highway materials testing and inspection
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Registered Professional Engineer with two years of experience in the same field
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

  • PREFERRED: Certified Asphalt Technician Level I – Field Tester
  • PREFERRED: Certified Concrete Technician (ACI and ALDOT Certification)
  • PREFERRED: Certified Asphalt Roadway Technician
  • PREFERRED: Work Zone Safety Certification
  • PREFERRED: Radiological Safety Course Certification
  • PREFERRED: Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI)

Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
