About the role
The role is responsible for offering personalized advice and wealth management related to Special Needs Trusts for High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra-High Net Worth (UHNW) clientele. This role focuses on reviewing and implementing complex estate planning documents, identifying and mitigating risks, working with internal and external partners, and delivering outstanding client service.
Responsibilities
- Review and implement complex estate planning documents
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure trust compliance
- Offer solutions to beneficiaries and centers of influence (COI)
- Work with internal and external partners (e.g., care managers)
- Provide knowledge of state and federal benefit programs
- Review fiduciary tax returns
- Deliver outstanding client service
- Grow the credibility and enhance the reputation of Special Needs Trust Services internally and externally
- Contribute to the growth of the wealth management business by promoting Special Needs Trust Services, onboarding new Special Needs Trusts, and securing future fee business
- Manage a book of fiduciary relationships for HNW and UHNW clients, including beneficiary distributions, account oversight, and coordination with Portfolio Managers on investment allocation and implementation
- Mentor and guide team members to maximize talent and potential
- Act as an escalation regarding client-related matters, including the resolution of client complaints and the approval of discretionary distributions
- Support the SAFE team by referring customers interested in a dwelling secured product to a SAFE team member
Requirements
- 7+ years of Fiduciary Advisory experience, or equivalent through work experience, training, military experience, or education
- CTFA, JD, LLM, or CFP designation preferred
- Extensive experience in administering complex special needs trust accounts as an attorney or trust officer
- Expert knowledge of complex estate planning techniques and fiduciary laws
- In-depth knowledge of fiduciary income tax
- Demonstrated experience in growing fiduciary business and supporting financial advisors and private bankers to serve their clientele
Qualifications
- CTFA, JD, LLM, or CFP designation
