Senior Trust Officer – Special Needs Trusts

About the role

The Senior Trust Officer will serve as a trusted advisor to beneficiaries, families, caregivers, attorneys, and financial professionals, overseeing a portfolio of Special Needs Trusts and related fiduciary accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship lead for a portfolio of Special Needs Trusts and fiduciary accounts
  • Administer trusts in accordance with governing documents, fiduciary standards, and applicable regulations
  • Guide families and caregivers through thoughtful distribution decisions while maintaining SSI and Medicaid eligibility considerations
  • Partner closely with beneficiaries, estate planning attorneys, caregivers, CPAs, and financial advisors
  • Interpret trust documents and oversee trust administration workflows with precision and care
  • Collaborate with internal operations and investment teams to deliver a seamless client experience
  • Anticipate client needs and provide proactive guidance in sensitive or nuanced situations
  • Contribute to the continued growth of a specialized Special Needs Trust practice

Requirements

  • 7+ years of trust administration and fiduciary experience
  • Strong Special Needs Trust exposure (First Party, Third Party, pooled trusts, etc.)
  • Experience handling estate settlement and/or complex trust administration matters
  • Deep understanding of fiduciary principles, trust operations, and estate workflows
  • Working knowledge of SSI, Medicaid, and public benefit considerations
  • Experience working directly with high-net-worth families, beneficiaries, caregivers, and professional advisors
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to operate independently within a boutique, client-focused environment

Qualifications

  • CTFA strongly preferred
  • JD, CFP, or CPA highly valued
  • Experience within trust companies, private banks, RIAs, family offices, or boutique fiduciary firms
