About the role
The Senior Trust Officer will serve as a trusted advisor to beneficiaries, families, caregivers, attorneys, and financial professionals, overseeing a portfolio of Special Needs Trusts and related fiduciary accounts.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary relationship lead for a portfolio of Special Needs Trusts and fiduciary accounts
- Administer trusts in accordance with governing documents, fiduciary standards, and applicable regulations
- Guide families and caregivers through thoughtful distribution decisions while maintaining SSI and Medicaid eligibility considerations
- Partner closely with beneficiaries, estate planning attorneys, caregivers, CPAs, and financial advisors
- Interpret trust documents and oversee trust administration workflows with precision and care
- Collaborate with internal operations and investment teams to deliver a seamless client experience
- Anticipate client needs and provide proactive guidance in sensitive or nuanced situations
- Contribute to the continued growth of a specialized Special Needs Trust practice
Requirements
- 7+ years of trust administration and fiduciary experience
- Strong Special Needs Trust exposure (First Party, Third Party, pooled trusts, etc.)
- Experience handling estate settlement and/or complex trust administration matters
- Deep understanding of fiduciary principles, trust operations, and estate workflows
- Working knowledge of SSI, Medicaid, and public benefit considerations
- Experience working directly with high-net-worth families, beneficiaries, caregivers, and professional advisors
- Strong communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to operate independently within a boutique, client-focused environment
Qualifications
- CTFA strongly preferred
- JD, CFP, or CPA highly valued
- Experience within trust companies, private banks, RIAs, family offices, or boutique fiduciary firms
