About the role

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to support multiple analytical laboratories within a manufacturing and engineering environment. This role is ideal for a laboratory professional who enjoys hands-on testing, analytical instrumentation, materials characterization, and collaborating with customers to solve technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily workload across the Chemistry, Carbon, and Metals Laboratories
  • Receive and track incoming work through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Prioritize laboratory tasks to meet customer schedules and project deadlines
  • Communicate testing status, priorities, and updates with customers and laboratory personnel
  • Perform titration analyses on production processing chemistries
  • Conduct Salt Fog testing using established industry standards
  • Perform: Oxygen/Nitrogen/Hydrogen (ONH) analysis, Coined Density analysis, Fusion Boundary analysis of powder materials
  • Conduct coating evaluations, including viscosity, refractive index, specific gravity, turbidity testing
  • Prepare samples for X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis
  • Perform material cross-sectioning and metallography preparation
  • Analyze samples using microscopy techniques
  • Capture images and measurements using microscope software systems
  • Operate and maintain a variety of analytical instruments
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and testing systems
  • Support calibration and routine maintenance activities
  • Interface with internal and external customers to determine appropriate testing methods
  • Document and communicate test results accurately
  • Generate reports utilizing Microsoft Office applications
  • Maintain laboratory inventories, including: Solvents, Acids, Bases, Chemicals, Laboratory consumables

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing: Titrations, Wet chemistry, Metallography, Materials testing
  • Familiarity with analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, TGA/DSC, ONH, SEM/EDS, XRF, Optical Microscopes
  • Experience with hazardous chemicals, acids, bases, and solvents
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Mechanical, machining, or manufacturing aptitude
  • Experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
