Senior Laboratory Assistant
This position is per-diem and will work 8-hour, Day shifts at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, CA. St. Joseph Hospital is a four-time Magnet-designated facility, recognized for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
About the role
Under the direction and supervision of the Division Supervisor, the Senior Lab Assistant I performs capillary and venous specimen collections for St. Joseph Hospital Inpatient and Outpatient departments. The role ensures accurate and timely receipt, centrifugation, and delivery of laboratory specimens to appropriate departments and reference labs.
Responsibilities
- Perform capillary and venous specimen collections for inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Ensure accurate and timely receipt, centrifugation, and delivery of laboratory specimens.
- Handle and process send-out specimens to other laboratories.
Requirements
- California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I License or California Certified Phlebotomy Technician II License upon hire.
- 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomist or Lab Assistant performing blood specimen collections, specimen processing, centrifuging, and handling send-out specimens to other laboratories, or equivalent laboratory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in blood specimen collections.
- 2 years of experience performing specimen processing, centrifuging, and handling send-out specimens to other laboratories, or equivalent laboratory experience.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.98 per hour. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
Schedule
