Senior HR Manager
About the role
This hands-on role serves as a key member of the site leadership teams for multiple sites, acting as a trusted advisor and expert in HR matters. The Sr Manager, Human Resources leads and supports large-scale initiatives, including talent development, performance reviews, training, diverse recruiting strategies, direct labor salary compensation progression, employee relations, and benefits administration. This position supervises others and manages the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources Departments at assigned locations.
This is an onsite position at our Con-E-Co manufacturing facility in Blair, NE, with additional responsibility for two other Midwest sites (WI and KS).
Responsibilities
- Serve as a business advisor on HR matters to General Managers and Leadership teams.
- Lead initiatives for talent development, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Evaluate human resources processes and strategies to determine improvements and report findings to top management.
- Recruit and interview potential applicants based on experience, skills, education, and organizational fit.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Develop relationships with individuals, employee groups, and business leaders to communicate company policies, programs, and procedures while providing leadership around organizational change and development.
- Oversee talent acquisition, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring for managerial, exempt, and professional roles.
- Act as project leader for corporate and divisional projects, managing timelines and cross-divisional teams.
- Prepare, update, and recommend human resource policies and procedures.
- Evaluate trends in compensation and benefits for applicable sites.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring HR federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining records.
- Train managers to coach and discipline employees; resolve employee issues to drive high performance.
- Organize and manage new employee orientation, onboarding, and training programs.
- Produce monthly headcount reports and track departmental employment levels.
- Initiate and maintain changes in associate status (promotions, salary increases, transfers, terminations, etc.).
- Spend time on the plant floor engaging with employees and managers to understand needs, concerns, and opportunities for better engagement.
- Travel regularly to sites (15% of the time).
- Act as a safety advocate and ensure safety rules and procedures are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 8+ years of career experience in Human Resources.
- BS Degree in an applicable field.
- Strong ability to influence others and partner with site General Managers and other leaders.
- Ability to clearly articulate ideas and gain buy-in.
- Experience leading a medium-sized (300+) organization in a heavily matrixed environment.
- Ability to solve problems at both strategic and functional levels.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated collaboration and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in creating precise presentations, reports, memos, and business correspondence.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Professional HR Certification preferred.

Work Environment
The role operates in both an office and a manufacturing shop plant environment. In the office, duties include extensive computer work, sitting, or standing. In the manufacturing environment, exposures include moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools, equipment, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions, and risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and very loud noise levels consistent with an industrial assembly facility, requiring hearing protection.
