Senior Helpdesk Technician
About the role
DCAS's mission is to make city government work for all New Yorkers. The department manages New York City's most iconic courthouses and municipal buildings, purchasing over $1 billion annually in goods and services for more than 80 City agencies. This work ensures that all agencies can deliver on their mission, touching every facet of City government.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management related: Manages the lifecycle of the asset class.
- Maintains efficient inventory bookkeeping by creating systems of records with auditable controls.
- Determines the overall suitability and health of assets to ensure they are performing to specifications and fulfilling business needs.
- Reconciles IT capital asset purchases on an annual basis.
- Reconciles inventory in the systems with physical counts.
- Provides quality control of asset data in the Inventory Database.
- Responsible for distributing IT assets.
- Conducts periodic physical inventories of all appropriate assets.
- Manages user acknowledgment of IT assets received.
- Responsible for quality and efficiency of problem resolution where Asset Management is required.
- Reviews all asset discrepancies.
- Reviews asset inventory information in the physical environment for variances with asset records in the inventory systems and provides resolutions.
- Analyzes all variances and makes recommendations to perform inventory cycle counts.
- Initiates end-of-life, salvage processes for assets.
- Audits asset inventory in storage.
- Prepares decommissioned assets for auctioning.
- Contact vendors to replace or repair warranted assets.
- Work with auditors for annual inventory audits.
- Occasionally need to visit and verify assets in 59 remote sites.
- Responsible for tagging and taking inventory on new assets.
Qualifications
- Two years of satisfactory full-time computer operations experience in a large-scale networked, multi-tiered, or mainframe computer environment, or two years of satisfactory data communications network experience working in a mainframe or multi-tiered computer environment.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described above.
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience as described above.
- A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
Preferred Skills
- Minimum (2) years of working experience with an emphasis on technical support in a Microsoft environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Well organized, process-oriented, and a good team player.
- Strong technical acumen, analysis, and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of IT systems including but not limited to Microsoft Windows Server 2012+, Windows 10, Office 365.
- Ability to drive and travel to remote locations.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects of up to 20 lbs.
- General Cyber Security awareness and familiarity with best practices.
- IT Inventory management experience.
- Experience with imaging software a plus.
- Previous experience in a CADD environment is a plus.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $62,000 to $93,000 per year.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
