Senior Health Information Management Representative

This position is national remote, offering the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S.

About the Role

As an Optum employee, you will provide support to the Allina Health account. Your work will directly improve health outcomes by connecting people with the care, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources they need. This role operates on a full-time schedule, Sunday through Thursday, with flexibility to work any 8-hour shift during normal business hours (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST). Occasional overtime may be required. We offer 6 weeks of on-the-job training, with training hours scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM CST.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and maintains health information records.
  • Reviews electronic chart documentation to ensure correct patient, location, and no duplicate information.
  • Manages requests for documentation and information.
  • Scans and edits documents in the electronic medical record.
  • Locates, logs, retrieves, files, and delivers medical records stored in various mediums and systems.
  • Distributes reports and results.
  • May train and mentor co-workers.
  • Analyzes documentation and tracks completion to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Promotes principles of health information accuracy, transparency, currency, accessibility, relevancy, and reliability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with medical records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel (create, edit, save documents and spreadsheets), and Outlook (email and calendar management).
  • Ability to complete 6 weeks of training Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM CST.
  • Ability to work full-time, Sunday through Thursday, with flexibility for any 8-hour shift during business hours (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of medical terminology experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in health information management (HIM).

Telecommuting Requirements

  • Ability to keep all company-sensitive documents secure.
  • Required to have a dedicated work area separated from other living areas, ensuring information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed service.
  • All remote employees must adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

Pay

The salary for this role ranges from $18 to $32 hourly, based on full-time employment. Pay is determined by factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
