About the role
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior FPGA Digital Design Engineer to join the Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions (CEMA) Hardware Engineering Group. The ideal candidate will support FPGA designs through all phases of development, contributing to projects that span air, land, sea, and space. Responsibilities
- Assist in FPGA design architecture and own RTL coding
- Perform synthesis, place and route, and timing closure
- Develop basic test benches and conduct lab testing
- Provide product support and ensure FPGA security
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate in a team environment
- Debug and troubleshoot design issues
Requirements
- Current Security Clearance (Secret) or eligibility to obtain one
- 4+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree (less with an advanced degree)
- Experience in FPGA or ASIC design/development, including VHDL (preferred) or Verilog HDL coding
- Proficiency with digital design tools and simulators
- Experience with clock domain crossing techniques
- Familiarity with designer-level test benches (VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog)
- Knowledge of revision control systems (GIT, CVS, Clearcase, Subversion, etc.)
- Experience with static timing analysis tools and timing closure
- Working knowledge of internal logic analyzers (ILA/chipscope/signaltap)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Self-starter with strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DSP fundamentals and FPGA implementation
- Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink
- Experience with legacy designs and hardware lab debug
- Experience with Xilinx Vivado or Intel/Altera Quartus
- Experience running digital simulations with Modelsim/QuestaSim
- Scripting experience (Perl, Tcl, Python, shell, etc.)
- Working knowledge of UVM/SystemVerilog
- Familiarity with Radar systems, Video/IR processing, or stepper motor control
- Experience with C/C++
- Knowledge of high-speed ADC/DAC interfaces, SERDES, or PCIe

Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $97,008 – $164,914. Individual salaries are determined by factors such as business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications (skills, education, and experience).
