Senior FPGA Design Engineer

Onsite role in McKinney, TX (Wing D Building). U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance; active clearance required from day one.

About the role

The Multi-Product Power & Digital (MPD) department designs FPGAs, circuit cards, and electronics subassemblies for missiles, radars, and electronic warfare systems. As a Senior FPGA Design Engineer on the FPGA Architects team, you will develop FPGA-based electronics from initial system requirements through deployment, supporting products used worldwide in ground, airborne, and space applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop FPGA designs for Xilinx (AMD), Altera (Intel), and Microchip devices and families.
• Implement designs using VHDL for gigabit serial interfaces, RF digital signal processing, controls, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces.
• Collaborate with circuit-card designers and systems engineers to define requirements, architect new designs, model algorithms, partition functionality, and perform code development, simulation, and implementation.
• Verify designs against requirements using directed and constrained-random test methodologies.
• Provide lifecycle support from requirements definition through integration, test, documentation, and configuration management.

Requirements

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing FPGAs with VHDL or Verilog.
• Hands-on experience with Xilinx (AMD), Altera (Intel), or Microchip FPGAs and tool flows.
• Experience with FPGA timing constraints and timing closure.
• Hands-on integration experience with FPGA-based systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of embedded systems design using Microblaze, Nios, or ARM processors.
• Experience with digital signal processing on FPGAs.
• Familiarity with Linux environments.
• Proficiency in C programming and scripting languages such as Perl and Python.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and cultures.

Pay

Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD. Relocation assistance available for eligible candidates.
