This position is a Pay Band C4 within the Department of Health - Administrative Services Division - Financial Accounting Bureau (FAB). This posting will be used for ongoing recruitment and may close at any time.

About the role

This position is vital to the daily operations of the Financial Accounting Bureau and all other Divisions and Programs within the Department of Health. The role works closely with the Cash Manager and the FAB Bureau Chief to maintain Petty Cash records, assist with monthly Cash Management Division reports, prepare and enter journal entries (OPR, CSH, CFR, and AGY), and prepare requisitions, purchase orders, and vouchers.

Additional responsibilities include serving as a backup for Cashiers, reviewing, auditing, and analyzing DJ packets with an understanding of Funds, Department ID, Reporting Category, Account, Operating Unit, Budget Reference, and Class. The position also provides technical and administrative accounting support to the Asset Division, ensuring compliance with GASB Statement No. 87 (Leases) and GASB Statement No. 96 (Subscription-Based Information Technology Arrangements - SBITAs). The incumbent will compile, review, and organize documentation, ensure data integrity, review agreements, extract key financial metrics, and maintain the central audit trail. The role assists with the annual audit and other assigned tasks.

Customers of this position include DOH Divisions and Programs, as well as internal and external auditors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Petty Cash records.
  • Assist with monthly Cash Management Division reports.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries (OPR, CSH, CFR, and AGY).
  • Prepare requisitions, purchase orders, and vouchers.
  • Serve as a backup for Cashiers.
  • Review, audit, and analyze DJ packets, requiring knowledge of Funds, Department ID, Reporting Category, Account, Operating Unit, Budget Reference, and Class.
  • Provide technical and administrative accounting support to the Asset Division.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency and one (1) year of experience in bill collection, bookkeeping, office administration, auditing, accounting, and/or finance.
  • Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Skills

  • Knowledge of SHARE Financial.
  • Knowledge and application of GAAP and MAPs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience preparing and coordinating reconciliations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive use of computers, copiers, scanners, and phones.
  • Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Pay

$20.56 - $30.85 hourly / $42,773 - $64,160 annually.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply.
