About the role
This position follows an Office-Based schedule with four in-office days per week at 1 Optum Circle, Eden Prairie, MN. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday role requiring flexibility to work any 8-hour shift during normal business hours (8:00am–5:00pm CST), with occasional overtime as business needs dictate. On-the-job training is provided.
Primary Responsibilities
- Own and manage financial reporting for the OptumRx Specialty SGA from month-end close, quarterly forecasting, allocation determination, long range planning and partnership on strategic projects and initiatives
- Drive growth and profitability initiatives within the Specialty portfolio by partnering with Business, product and technology leaders to develop insightful analysis, evaluate new and evolving strategies through complex scenario modeling, bringing loose concepts into clarity through a financial focus
- Translate complex CBAs and Cost Containment Initiatives concepts into clear, actionable financial models to support decision-making and strategic planning
- Collaborating cross functionally to gather inputs, challenge assumptions, and clarify financial narratives for month and forecast packages to Sr Leaders
- Deliver concise, insight-driven financial reporting to senior leadership, highlighting key levers and variances to enable strategic decision making
- Serve as a trusted finance partner to line of business operators, operations, product, and technology teams—bridging business strategy with financial execution
- Primary ownership of detailed models to forecast, measure, and validate performance improvements for client partnerships
- Support operations teams in understanding how their actions will impact the measured results and financial outcomes
- Build solid partnerships with Optum and operations teams through leading monthly performance reviews and ad hoc conversations
- Implement process and procedures for the measurement and validation of financial performance metrics
- Contribute to project charters by assessing financial performance metrics within the ROI for new projects
- Establish and implement financial performance metric audits and testing to ensure results match projections
- Providing broader support for other operational and strategic initiatives
- Flex across a wide range of finance responsibilities as needed to support the OptumRx Pharmacy finance organization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 5+ years of financial, FP&A or related analytical role experience
- 5+ years of proven experience driving business performance in a high growth environment
- 5+ years of work experience anticipating accounting, financial reporting, forecasting and operational issues, assessing their implications and developing and implementing an appropriate action plan
- 2+ years of experience presenting analytics to internal/external stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Advanced modeling capabilities
- Healthcare experience and/or experience working in a large matrixed environment
- Ability to work full time with flexibility to work any shift schedule during normal business hours of 8:00am–5:00pm CST
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting matrixed and operational organizations
- Experience preparing materials for senior leadership or executive audiences
- Exposure to headcount management, workforce analytics, or vendor cost tracking
- Healthcare industry knowledge and/or experience

Pay
The salary for this role will range from $91,700–$163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
