About the role
The Senior Financial Consultant leads a diverse range of analytical responsibilities in support of producers, consultants, and client teams across all Health & Welfare product offerings. This role mentors other associates in financial acumen and drives the development of tools and behaviors that enhance financial analytics capabilities within the Series.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex analytics processes for new business development in collaboration with Lockton producers.
- Serve as the primary financial strategist on assigned client teams, owning financial deliverables and recommendations.
- Conduct financial analyses and presentations for prospect opportunities and finalist meetings, representing the financial perspective as needed.
- Translate complex financial analyses into actionable recommendations that support client decision-making and long-term strategy.
- Review claims experience reports to ensure accuracy and consistency for client presentation.
- Develop and peer review claims projections using various data sources for client reporting.
- Complete peer reviews and present complex financial projects.
- Model various plan designs and evaluate the value of plan changes.
- Collaborate with specialty practices and core service teams to develop integrated solutions aligned with client objectives.
- Communicate complex financial concepts effectively to non-financial audiences and senior client stakeholders.
- Review renewals, prepare renewal and budget reports, and assist in renewal negotiations.
- Develop comprehensive health insurance underwriting knowledge, including strategic approaches to healthcare cost management.
- Monitor emerging industry trends, market dynamics, and client performance indicators to inform strategic recommendations and internal knowledge sharing.
- Independently attend client meetings to present projection and renewal results, serving as the financial leader for complex client relationships.
- Act as a facilitator between teams to create consistency among various reports and processes.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and career development support to Financial Analysts and Senior Financial Analysts.
- Facilitate associate training on all financial components.
- Assist teams with financial analytics related to emerging and changing regulatory issues.
- Support M&A activities, including financial due diligence, harmonization, and proforma budget development for existing clients and prospects.
- Perform special projects as necessary.
- Contribute positively to customer satisfaction and service improvement.
- Communicate in a manner that fosters a cohesive and pleasant work environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained through the role.
- Comply with Lockton procedures and policies.
- Attend and present at company, department, and staff meetings as required.
- Participate in position-related seminars and classes.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related program, with a preference for degrees in math, statistics, or finance.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in health insurance consulting, underwriting, or employee benefits.
- Ability to compile, analyze, present, and interpret financial and statistical information to facilitate decision-making.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, statistical analysis, and spreadsheet calculations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize workloads and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Results-oriented with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Above-average verbal, written, and interpersonal skills for interacting with associates at all levels, clients, and prospects with tact and diplomacy.
- Willingness and ability to expand knowledge in the benefits industry through successful completion of benefits-related courses.
- Ability to work independently and supervise or guide others.
- Ability to coordinate workflow related to financial analytics.
- Ability to travel as required.
