Senior Field Service Technician

About the role

The Field Service Technician will support operations at a complex industrial water and wastewater treatment facility under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model. This role is critical for ensuring reliable, continuous plant performance, equipment uptime, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor industrial water and wastewater treatment systems to ensure consistent production and quality
  • Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, chemical feed systems, and other mechanical equipment
  • Identify and respond to process upsets, alarms, and abnormal operating conditions in real time
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and operational data for compliance and performance tracking
  • Aid with equipment repairs, system optimization, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Follow all site-specific safety procedures, including LOTO, confined space, and chemical handling protocols
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and site leadership

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on industrial equipment
  • Experience in an industrial environment (chemical plant, oil & gas, manufacturing, utilities, or water treatment)
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across shifts and functions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (data entry, reporting systems; SCADA/HMI experience preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in water or wastewater treatment operations
  • Prior experience in continuous/process plant operations
  • Technical degree, trade certification, or relevant post-secondary training
  • Wastewater operator license or willingness to obtain

Working Conditions

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2–5 years of technical work experience, preferably in industrial or commercial process environments

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to obtain required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical card
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain CDL Class A or B with applicable endorsements
  • Some travel may be required (20%–80% depending on division/location, including overnight stays)
