Responsibilities

  • Leads and independently performs complex field engineering and technical activities, including equipment inspections, startup and commissioning support, fabrication progress evaluations, vendor and supplier site audits, construction inspections, field verification measurements, site assessments, troubleshooting, and comprehensive data collection efforts.
  • Serves as a technical lead in the field by coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational objectives.
  • Performs operations and maintenance (O&M) of various types of environmental treatment equipment including pumps, filters, tanks, pressure vessels, and other types of process unit operations.
  • Poses a general understanding of system hydraulics, mechanical operation/functionality and instrumentation/electrical control schemes.
  • Applies theory and principles of environmental engineering to modify, test, and operate equipment and devices used in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental problems, including waste treatment and site remediation, under the direction of engineering staff or scientists.
  • Assists in the development of environmental remediation devices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience performing mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, environmental collection, monitoring, sampling, testing and basic evaluation
  • A valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation for travel to project and job sites
  • NFPA70E Training or willingness to complete
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40 hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher classes
  • Able to lift 50 pounds such as monitoring equipment and tools, with or without assistance
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Able to deliver and receive electronic documents
  • Competent in HVAC, mechanical and electrical
  • Ability to operate systems via PLC SCADA
  • Associate’s Degree in Environmental Studies from an accredited university or a technical certification

Benefits

The annual compensation range for this role is $80,000-$90,000 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. This position is based in Portland, ME.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week.
