About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team in Torrance, CA. Reporting to the Supervisor of Field Service, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing customer boats in the field, as well as our fleet of internal boats. Your primary focus will be on contributing to improving service standards, protocols, and processes, collaborating with engineering and production teams to implement improvements, and becoming an expert in assembling, troubleshooting, and disassembling all major boat systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining and servicing customer boats in the field as well as our fleet of internal boats
- Contributing to improving service standards, protocols, and processes
- Collaborating with engineering and production teams to implement improvements on boat designs, production methods, or service processes
- Becoming an expert in assembling, troubleshooting, and disassembling all major boat systems
Requirements
- High school degree or GED certification
- Proficiency using mechanical and electric hand tools
- 2-5 years experience building and troubleshooting electromechanical systems such as electric motors, batteries, sensors, electronics, controls, pneumatics, etc., experience with electric/hybrid vehicles a plus
- Willingness to travel nationally at least 50% on average, and up to 75% during busy periods
- Ability to stand 6-10 hours per day and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to cultivate positive relationships with all external parties while working in the field
- Ability to operate independently and make technical decisions supported by data
- Excellent written and verbal professional communication skills
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Experience with fiberglass, gel coat repairs or detailing
- Experience driving and trailering boats
- Comfortable pushing at a fast but sustainable pace
- Enthusiasm for boating and the water
Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency with boat design and construction
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
