Senior Field Applications Engineer - North America
About the role
The Senior Field Applications Engineer - North America is responsible for technical support to strategic OEM customer PCB design, PCB manufacturing, and PCB development activities. This position will support advanced design activities of high reliability commercial customers requiring ultra HDI and uBGA.
Responsibilities
- Provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFV (Design for Value) support to customer engineering and design teams for new designs and existing design improvement
- Support drawing reviews prior to design release and help architect drawing notes to support the specific design and manufacturing needs
- Understand and work with customers to implement HDI/uBGA product specification requirements
- Facilitate disposition of technical queries between TTM’s pre-production engineering groups at the site level and the customer
- Update customer design and manufacturing groups on TTM capabilities and technology road map through formal presentations
- Create and conduct technical capability presentations
- Provide key technical inputs for annual Technology Road Mapping and TTM Strategic Planning
- Interface regularly with TTM’s Sales, Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Pre-Production Engineering departments, and Operations in different global time zones
Requirements
- Have a thorough understanding of TTM manufacturing, design and value add capabilities to support QTA/NPI/Production Manufacturing
- Establish contacts and build relationships with customers engineering groups to drive improved communication and partnership
- Strong engineering background and knowledge of entire PCB manufacturing process including; manufacturing flows, process engineering steps, and pre-production tooling needs
- Advance knowledge of HDI & uBGA technologies, along with small micro-via stacking
- Advance process engineering skills for development and IRAD activities
- PLCM implementation and execution for applicable IRAD and/or franchise program readiness
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work well with customer design groups
- Effective public speaking and presentation skills
- Strong Project and Program management skills
- Self-motivated and willing to work with minimum supervision
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred
- 10+ years of experience in advance engineering activities related to PCB industry
- Intermediate level skills using Valor or Genesis
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Pay
Compensation for roles at TTM Technologies varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience. As required by local law, TTM provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in New York, California and Colorado. For California-based roles, compensation ranges are based upon specific physical locations.
Schedule
Travel for customer visits and TTM North American and Asia sites required up to 20% of the time

Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to:
- being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents;
- recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation;
- understand and follow authorization procedures for bringing foreign visitors into facilities (VAL);
- understand the Export and ITAR requirements for shipments leaving the US;
- manage vendor approvals for ITAR manufacturing and services.
