Senior Facilities Manager - DPF

About the role

The Senior Facilities Manager ensures uninterrupted operations through management of breakdown support, facility maintenance, and general facilities services for all buildings, infrastructure, utilities equipment, laboratory/operations support equipment, and systems at a Designated Pathogen Free (DPF) facility. The role provides fast response and recovery of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for both GMP and non‑GMP environments, supports manufacturing and change‑management initiatives, and leads a small team of maintenance mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Manage service and maintenance of internal environmental controls (HVAC), all facilities infrastructure and equipment (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), life‑safety systems, and GMP utilities (Reverse Osmosis and domestic water).
• Identify, negotiate, award, and monitor service/maintenance contracts (preventative, corrective, calibrations, pest control), evaluate RFPs, and resolve contract disputes.
• Provide 24‑hour on‑call service, routine inspections, and trending of controls data to ensure safe, timely, and cost‑effective maintenance.
• Utilize a CMMS to plan, schedule, and execute preventative and corrective maintenance, and maintain an effective spare‑parts program.
• Continuously review building, equipment, and system performance to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate problems, and apply root‑cause analysis (RCA) for continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, operation manuals, facility drawings, and vendor documentation.
• Recommend and implement utilities upgrades, reliability and efficiency improvements, and other initiatives to reduce system downtime.
• Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and ensure compliance with city, county, state, and federal regulations.
• Support manufacturing and change‑management initiatives, including professional maintenance, early equipment management, and energy & environment projects.
• Manage and develop a small team of 1–2 maintenance mechanics.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent General Education Degree).
• 14+ years of maintenance or facilities experience with a high school diploma/GED, or 12+ years with an associate degree, or 10+ years with a bachelor’s degree.
• Strong organizational and systems‑implementation skills.
• Knowledge of GMP and OSHA safety procedures and internal safety protocols.
• Understanding of GMPs and operation of a biopharmaceutical manufacturing plant.
• Fundamental computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet handling.
• Experience with facilities‑management software (CMMS).
• Must not have any other interaction with pigs outside of the company.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in facility/maintenance management, engineering, or a related discipline.
• 1+ year of facilities/maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment.
• 3+ years licensed in a standardized trade.
• 6+ years of maintenance or facilities‑management experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• State‑licensed Electrician – Journeyman license.
• Experience with root‑cause analysis/CAPA training and contract negotiations.
