Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead electric transmission line siting investigation tasks and prepare siting documentation for regulatory review.
  • Lead environmental resource investigation tasks and prepare permit applications and associated environmental reports.
  • Manage technical investigations including but not limited to wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, environmental inspections, and compliance monitoring.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Oversight and coordination of project tasks;
  • Available to junior staff for guidance;
  • Provides opportunities to junior staff for becoming familiar with task management and financials;
  • Interpreting the strategy of top-level management and translating it into everyday policies;
  • Developing and implementing day-to-day routines for a team, department, group, or division.

Project and Task Management

  • Starts to serve as a Project Manager on midsize to large projects.

Communication Skills

  • Routinely interacts with clients, customers, government officials, contractors, and others;
  • Led project meetings and presentations;
  • Possess marketing and sales skills;
  • Represents Company in a positive light;
  • Interacts with Task Managers and Business Sector Leaders on a regular basis;
  • Attends meetings with higher-level officials of the Company on project status including financials.

About the Role

Systems Planning Corporation (SPC) a subsidiary company of GAI Consultants, Inc., is seeking a Senior Environmental Manager 2 to provide advanced experience and team leadership in environmental studies and permitting and/or siting studies. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to provide project and task leadership for siting, permitting, and documentation efforts relating to electric transmission projects.

  • Strong technical writing ability;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight trips. Travel is estimated to occur monthly but may vary. Travel to clients, projects, and meetings in the mid-Atlantic and Midwest (up to 20%).
