Sagemcom is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the end-to-end development of a strategic product line of residential gateways and routers for Tier 1 North American operators. This is a high-impact leadership role combining deep technical expertise with operational and organizational leadership.
Product Line Ownership & Delivery
- Act as the primary technical and delivery interface with Tier 1 North American operators.
- Own the design and development of new products in alignment with strategic goals provided by Business Unit Product Manager.
- Drive alignment between business objectives, customer requirements, and engineering execution.
- Supervise existing products and propose future innovations.
- Ensure on-time delivery with best-in-class performance, quality, and cost targets.
- Lead concurrent engineering efforts across software, electronics, and mechanics.
Engineering Leadership
- Lead and grow cross-functional engineering teams (software, hardware, RF, mechanical, validation) across multiple geographies.
- Set clear priorities, drive execution, and ensure accountability through effective KPIs.
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Set annual goals, Mentor technical leaders and support talent development and succession planning.
Program & Execution Management
- Define program strategy, scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Identify risks early, drive mitigation plans, and ensure execution discipline.
- Oversee development phases including design, integration, validation, certification, and launch.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality processes and external certification requirements.
- Lead internal and external reviews, including executive reporting and customer governance.
Technical Leadership & Decision-Making
- Drive key architectural and design decisions across:
- Software stack (embedded Linux, middleware)
- Hardware platforms (SoCs, RF, high-speed design)
- System integration
Balance trade-offs across performance, cost, manufacturability, and time-to-market.
Ensure alignment with industry standards, operator requirements, and regulatory constraints (FCC, UL).
Quality, Cost & Lifecycle Management
- Own product performance in both manufacturing and field deployment.
- Drive continuous improvement using data analytics, customer feedback, and operational metrics.
- Ensure product cost targets are met through close collaboration with HW and sourcing teams.
- Lead corrective actions and root cause analysis across the product lifecycle.
Profile
- You hold a MS or PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Wireless Communications or a related technical field from a recognized US or international university.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles within embedded systems, networking, or broadband.
- Proven track record delivering complex, high-volume products to market.
- Experience managing cross-functional and distributed engineering teams.
Technical Background
- Strong system-level understanding across both hardware and software domains:
- Software & Systems
- Embedded Linux, networking stacks, drivers, middleware (RDK-B, prplOS, OpenWrt, OpenSync)
- IP networking (IPv4/IPv6, routing, switching, QoS)
- Hardware & Platforms
- SoCs for broadband gateways (Qualcomm, Broadcom, MediaTek)
- PCB design, high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, SerDes)
- RF systems, antennas, and wireless integration
- Mechanical: Plastic part design, injection tooling, thermal considerations and integration with electronics.
- Broadband & Connectivity
- DOCSIS, GPON/EPON, 5G/LTE, Wi-Fi, BLE
- Industrialization
- Experience with productization, manufacturing, and cost optimization
- Regulatory compliance (FCC, UL, PTCRB, WFA)
Soft Skills
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive complex initiatives end-to-end
- Customer-focused with experience interacting with Tier 1 operators or large OEMs
- Excellent communication skills, including executive-level reporting
- Data-driven decision maker with strong problem-solving skills
- Hands-on leader able to operate effectively at both strategic and execution levels
