Senior Engineering Manager
About the Role
The Specialty Access & Affordability value stream is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the FastAuth team. FastAuth is central to how we move specialty prescriptions through prior authorization faster, reducing the time between a prescription being written and a patient starting therapy. This role requires managing significant complexity and carrying multiple major workstreams simultaneously. You will own delivery, team health, and technical direction for FastAuth, operating as a peer to other engineering leaders in the value stream on cross-team decisions.
Responsibilities
- Delivery and Execution:
- Plan and execute across multiple workstreams, setting clear goals and holding the team accountable.
- Prioritize investment across projects and refocus efforts when results do not align with business goals.
- Run efficient operating cadences within SAFe, including PI planning.
- Unblock the team by addressing root causes rather than symptoms.
- Ensure delivery results do not compromise long-term growth, retention, or psychological safety.
- Technical and Strategic Direction:
- Define a vision for FastAuth aligned with value stream and company priorities.
- Partner with architects and staff engineers on design decisions across TypeScript, React, .NET, Azure, and event-driven architecture.
- Resolve misalignment with partner teams and stakeholders.
- Serve as a steady presence through change and coach the team through complexity.
- Team and Talent:
- Attract, hire, and retain a diverse and talented engineering team.
- Interview and assess senior candidates and calibrate the team as interviewers.
- Hold the team to clear performance expectations and manage high and low performers.
- Grow careers by matching development opportunities to individual goals.
- Structure the team for sustained success and plan headcount.
- Collaboration and Culture:
- Break down silos across engineering, product, design, and quality.
- Build deep cross-functional relationships and facilitate critical conversations.
- Disagree and commit when necessary to move priorities forward.
- Remove barriers to inclusion and address cultural issues proactively.
- Communicate clearly, tailoring messages to diverse audiences.
