About the role
Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space Mission Systems (SMS) is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Advanced Electro-Optical Systems (AEOS) Engineering Department in Albuquerque, NM.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a diverse team of engineers and first-line managers working across electro-optical systems, active EO technologies, sensors, algorithms, and integration & test.
- Set strategy and roadmaps for AEOS capabilities; translate mission needs into executable plans, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
- Establish and improve engineering processes, tools, and metrics that drive technical excellence, on-contract performance, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical oversight of architectures, designs, analyses, integration/test plans, and verification/validation activities.
- Partner closely with customers, program leadership, senior technologists, and cross-functional Boeing teams (including Boeing Engineering & Technology Innovation, Phantom Works, and core BDS engineering capabilities).
Requirements
- A current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required), or enrollment in a Continuous Vetting program within the last 5 years.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 5+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering project or team.
- Product development and systems engineering experience.

- Comfortable balancing strategic direction with hands-on technical oversight and rigorous program execution.

- Experience across the entire lifecycle of electro-optical system development and operations.
- Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.
- Previous management experience.

- Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams.

Pay and Benefits
The specific programs and options available to any given employee may vary depending on eligibility factors such as geographic location, date of hire, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range
$198,900 - $269,100
