Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Senior Technical Buyer in Lancaster, PA. This role plays a critical part in aerospace and defense applications.
Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced thermal-related product development activities and research.
- Train new engineers and technicians.
- Perform heat transfer and heat pipe analysis, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of conduction, convection, radiation, and heat pipe operation and performance prediction.
- Design products using an approved solid modeling program and create properly dimensioned drawings to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards (ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994).
- Perform CFD analysis using approved programs such as Flotherm or Icepak.
- Write technical reports, proposals, journal papers, and technical articles independently.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to top management, engineering staff, customers, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Support sales through proposal writing, analysis, solution generation, preparing datasheets, customer visits, and cost/bid support information.
- Evaluate research findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes.
- Manage projects, ensuring customer deliveries (hardware, reports, technical data, proposals) are met on time and notifying senior management of any schedule risks.
- Ensure prototype/pre-production units meet customer and Boyd quality specifications, coordinating with Boyd’s Quality Department.
- Maintain customer communication regarding technical or delivery changes/problems, coordinating with the appropriate salesperson.
- Ensure projects meet targeted cost budgets.
- Actively maintain control of company-related intellectual property, trade secrets, and patents, documenting new inventions via an Invention Disclosure Information (IDI) Form for the patent committee.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering with 15+ years of experience, or a Master's degree (M.A.) in engineering with 10+ years of experience, or a PhD in Engineering with 5+ years of experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
- Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs) in its most difficult phases.
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
