Senior Energy Engineer
About the role
This role involves conducting ASHRAE Level I & II energy audits, developing turnkey energy efficiency projects, and providing technical expertise to Environ’s clients. This role is client-facing, and will work directly with customers to identify, analyze, and implement energy-saving opportunities, and serve as a fractional On-Site Energy Manager for clients in this region.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field is required.
- A Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is strongly preferred.
- Preference to candidates with a Professional Engineering (PE) License or ability to obtain one.
- 5+ years of experience conducting energy/decarbonization audits, energy modeling, or energy efficiency project development.
- Experience serving as energy manager for commercial facilities, with preference for candidates with hospital and healthcare experience.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation controls, and energy management strategies.
- Experience with turnkey project development, including vendor coordination and contractor management.
- Familiarity with utility incentive programs and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Ability to travel as needed for client engagements and site visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as fractional On-Site Energy Manager for one or more of Environ’s clients
- Conduct ASHRAE Level I & II energy audits, including data collection, site inspections, and energy analysis.
- Identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) and quantify potential savings.
- Develop detailed energy assessment reports with actionable recommendations.
- Assist in the development of turnkey energy efficiency projects, from feasibility analysis to implementation.
- Perform technical and financial analysis of ECMs, including ROI and payback calculations.
- Serve as a technical expert in energy efficiency and engineering consulting engagements.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and implementation strategies to clients.
- Provide ongoing support and advisory services to help clients achieve their annual energy efficiency goals.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, including ASHRAE, local building energy codes, and utility incentive programs.
- Stay up to date on energy efficiency regulations, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Conduct on-site assessments at client facilities, including mechanical system inspections and data logging.
- Travel is required to support client engagements, site visits, and project implementation.
