About the role
Cleveland Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to manage bid submissions and support the operations team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of electrical estimating experience, strong computer skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Manage the entire estimate for a bid submission preparation
- Aid in the development of junior estimators
- Communicate with customers, engineers, and team members regarding scope and issues
- Cultivate and maintain customer relationships to promote repeat business
- Support operations with specific work breakdowns, estimate hours, large change requests, and scope inclusions
- Write estimate-specific scope letters of inclusions and exclusions
- Proficient in Accubid or similar estimating software
- Process purchase inquiries, analyze quotations, and ensure compliance with requirements
- Promote and ensure success of Total Quality Management
- Review vendor and sub-contractor pricing
- Provide cost analysis and review for multiple types of projects
- Develop recapitulation sheets to arrive at final prices
- Understand building crews, overtime requirements, scheduling, and equipment deliveries
- Understand equipment and schedule impacts on projects
- Coordinate and run risk reviews
- Recognize cost savings opportunities without compromising project integrity
- Understand various types of construction and their impact on estimates
- Advise on constructability methods for project improvement
Requirements
- 5+ years of electrical estimating industry knowledge
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Accubid, and ability to learn new web applications quickly
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
- Effective internal and external communication skills (verbal, written, presentational, active listening)
- A positive attitude, self-sufficiency, and teamwork capability
- A High School Diploma or equivalent, with an Electrical Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred
- National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Estimating courses preferred
Qualifications
- Ability to understand building crews, overtime requirements, scheduling, and equipment deliveries
- Understanding of equipment and schedule impacts on projects
- Knowledge of risk reviews and their importance in the estimating process
- Recognition of cost-saving opportunities without compromising project integrity
- Understanding of various types of construction and their impact on estimates
- Ability to advise on constructability methods for project improvement
