Senior Editorial Producer - Guests, The Situation Room

About the Role

CNN seeks a talented Senior Editorial Producer to join The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown team in Atlanta, New York, or Washington D.C. The Senior Editorial Producer is responsible for booking guests and panelists and requesting major, newsmaker interviews. The ability to collaborate well with internal and external stakeholders is critical to this position. This individual is the show's chief booking representative and is responsible for booking guests for live, daily interviews.

Responsibilities

• Identify, establish, cultivate and maintain critical relationships with newsmakers, experts, analysts, publicists and sources
• Maintain knowledge of Congress and the federal government, with established relationships with communications directors and press secretaries
• React quickly in breaking news situations to identify and book government officials, lawmakers, reporters and experts while the newscast is already on the air
• Use social media to find people involved in breaking news situations
• Serve as an ambassador for the anchor and senior producers, maintaining constant contact with senior producers about the status of guest bookings
• Conduct pre-interviews with guests and analysts
• Coordinate live and taped on-camera interviews and shoots
• Proactively research and pitch newsworthy stories and manage long-term booking opportunities
• Mentor and serve as a resource to junior members of the staff, potentially managing other editorial producers
• Attend company events and perform other related duties as assigned
• Travel for breaking news bookings as required
• Make guest booking calls outside of regular office hours as needed

Qualifications

• At least seven years as a booking producer or equivalent experience
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
• Proven performance booking guests with an established contact list
• Ability to multi-task, execute quickly and remain calm
• Knowledge of current events, key players and issues in global affairs
• Exceptional organizational, writing and communication skills
• Ability to travel as needed
• Language skills are a plus

Pay

$113,077.00 - $209,999.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.
