You’ll lead the engineering effort for entire programs, ensuring solutions meet customer programmatic and technical requirements within allocated cost and schedule. As the Program Engineering Manager (PEM), you’ll provide technical responsibility and leadership to cross-functional teams through design, development, fielding, and support of systems. You’ll represent the technical team to project managers, functions, and executive leadership, developing the overall technical solution for products or systems. The PEM is the decision authority between the Chief Engineer and engineering team, influencing design, development, test, and verification while identifying and communicating technical risks and opportunities.

This role requires full-time, on-site work at a BAE Systems facility due to the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and onsite work requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Program Manager, Chief Engineer, and functional staff to develop and deliver products and systems that meet customer needs.
  • Collaborate across disciplines, functions, and business areas to support engineering across the enterprise.
  • Ensure cost, schedule, and technical performance for projects throughout their life cycle.
  • Prepare and approve competitive engineering bids that are executable, meet price-to-win targets, and grow the business.
  • Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Identify and support the development of critical skills and resources.
  • Develop and maintain measures related to engineering performance.
  • Ensure proper application of processes based on project size and complexity.
  • Establish goals, performance standards, budgets, and staffing plans.
  • Improve processes and skills to accelerate program execution and enhance quality.
  • Lead and develop team members.

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain Special Access Program clearances and DoW Top Secret.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years of work experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in engineering development of complex electronic systems and transition to manufacturing.
  • Project engineering management experience, including organizational design, planning, estimating, design management, and product verification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoW Top Secret Clearance.
  • Previous experience operating within a Special Access Program environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering within a digital engineering ecosystem.
  • Experience leading or collaborating with cross-site, cross-business unit teams.
  • Experience leading diverse multi-disciplinary teams in solving complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (soft skills, strategic thinking, business acumen, team building, customer relationships).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Strong team-building skills enabling collaboration within and across teams, functions, and business units.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $153,377 - $260,743. Individual salaries are determined by factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
