Senior Echocardiographer
About the role
The Echocardiographer position at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is a Full-Time role with 8-hour shifts from 7:00am to 3:30pm, including call responsibilities. This position works in various departments including the Cardiac Non-Invasive Lab, EP and Cath Lab, OR, ICU, and bedside patient care. Key responsibilities include performing echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, TEE echocardiograms, and Doppler ultrasounds to evaluate heart and vessel abnormalities. Leadership skills are also required to support the department with staffing schedules, accreditation, and staff education.
Responsibilities
- Perform echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, TEE echocardiograms, and Doppler ultrasounds
- Evaluate heart and vessel abnormalities for heart disease and blood flow abnormalities
- Complete technologist reports in the structured report application
- Support the Cardiac Operating Room Echocardiogram needs
Requirements
- At least one of the following certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer
- Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program or equivalent education according to IAC Guidelines
- Required Education: Bachelor's Level Degree, Associate's Level Degree in CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGY or High School Diploma with Echo Tech experience
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support Required
- Adult echocardiography registry (ARDMS, RDCS or RCS) certification within 12 months of hire

- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
