About the role

The Senior Echocardiographer is responsible for performing and analyzing advanced echocardiographic procedures, collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and analyze advanced echocardiographic procedures, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography.
  • Assess cardiac function and pathology.
  • Provide accurate diagnostic information to physicians and the healthcare team.
  • Mentor junior staff members.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required with experience and certification required, Associate Degree preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program (or equivalent education) in accordance with IAC Guidelines.
  • Certification/Licensure: Candidates must have at least one of the four certifications (RDCS, RCCS, RCS, or ACS).
  • BLS required.
  • 3 years of experience required.

Qualifications

  • Specific exams include: adult 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echo, myocardial strain, contrast (DEFINITY), agitated saline (bubble study), exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo.
  • Communication with patients and providers required.
  • Provide accurate diagnostic information.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, day shift, with call every 7th week to include the weekend. The echocardiographer is off the preceding Friday and following Monday of their call weekend. The echocardiographer must live within a 30-minute drive of the hospital for call purposes.
