Lexitas is seeking a full-time, experienced **Court Reporter** to join our team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in fast-paced legal environments and is committed to delivering accurate, timely transcripts.

About the role

As a Court Reporter at Lexitas, you will provide real-time and offline reporting services for depositions, arbitrations, hearings, and other legal proceedings. You will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and clients to ensure high-quality transcripts and exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Report depositions, hearings, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings with precision and professionalism.
  • Produce accurate, verbatim transcripts in required formats (e.g., ASCII, PDF, condensed) within established deadlines.
  • Operate and maintain stenographic equipment, including real-time reporting technology.
  • Collaborate with scheduling coordinators, clients, and legal teams to confirm details and logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with Lexitas quality standards, industry best practices, and client-specific requirements.
  • Provide real-time feed services when requested, including rough drafts and live streaming.
  • Review and edit transcripts for accuracy, formatting, and completeness prior to delivery.
  • Travel to client locations, law firms, or courthouses as needed (local and occasional overnight travel may be required).

Requirements

  • Certified by a recognized court reporting program (e.g., NCRA, NVRA, or state certification).
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional court reporting experience, preferably in deposition settings.
  • Proficient in real-time reporting and ability to provide rough drafts upon request.
  • Strong command of legal terminology, grammar, punctuation, and transcript formatting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent listening, concentration, and organizational skills.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Skills

  • Stenotype machine proficiency (e.g., Stenograph, Advantage, or similar).
  • Familiarity with case management software (e.g., eLaw, Summation, or Lexitas proprietary tools).
  • Experience with real-time feed software (e.g., CaseViewNet, LiveNote, or Bridge Mobile).
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email.
