Senior Director - Voluntary Benefits Consultant

Key responsibilities

  • Design and build voluntary benefit strategies to support scalable client delivery
  • Develop training programs and resources for Health & Benefits consultants
  • Foster cross-line-of-business collaboration
  • Cook up and coordinate with external carrier and vendor partners

Qualifications

  • Performance Objectives: Clients Lead and manage multiple client engagements
  • Drive Voluntary Benefits insurance consulting sales and marketing efforts for both regions
  • Lead the development of optimum project and expansion solutions for the client
  • Create client specific business plans to ensure growth, retention and expansion goals are met
  • Serve as an escalation point for client and operational issues and drive solutions
  • Coordinate with VB Operations team to ensure service levels meet or exceed client expectations and professional excellence standards
  • Ensure quality of deliverables and enforcement of critical deadlines through effective communication
  • Negotiate with client/carrier for the efficient delivery of services as profitable fee or commission levels
  • Maintain and manage client profitability
  • Mentor and provides feedback internally to other team members
  • Facilitate communication between client and service teams
  • Build relationships with internal and external resources
  • Participate in annual performance management process

Requirements

  • 6+ years experience and success in the design/management of middle market group voluntary benefit plans gained in a consulting or carrier environment
  • Proven ability to generate revenue
  • Track record of success in managing middle market client relationships
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
  • Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges
  • An executive presence with polished and well developed written and oral communication skills
  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of an organization
  • Interest and aptitude in keeping abreast of latest developments in health and welfare plan strategy and contributing to the development of new tools and approaches
  • Availability to travel 15-30% based on seasonal business development
