Senior Director, Principal Giving
About the role
Lurie Children’s Hospital Foundation seeks an entrepreneurial fundraising leader to serve as its inaugural Senior Director, Principal Gifts. As Lurie Children’s expands its clinical and physical footprint and prepares for its next comprehensive campaign, the Senior Director will build the strategy and infrastructure for a formal principal gifts program while cultivating the Foundation’s highest‑level prospects.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a portfolio of qualified principal‑gift prospects.
- Develop strategies for prospect qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Solicit and close transformational gifts of $10 million or more.
- Partner with board members, volunteers, physicians, institutional leaders, and Foundation colleagues to advance donor relationships.
- Help establish the strategy, processes, and infrastructure for a growing principal‑gifts program.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive fundraising experience in a substantial institutional setting.
- Demonstrated success soliciting principal gifts, including gifts of seven figures or more.
- Experience managing teams and/or significant bodies of work.
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills.
- A resourceful, solutions‑focused, and entrepreneurial approach; healthcare and/or academic experience strongly preferred.
Compensation
The salary for this role is $190,000–$210,000.
