About the role
The Senior Director of Pre-Construction is responsible for supporting estimating and pre-construction services across multiple subregions. This role includes managing a group of Chief Estimators and Directors of Pre-Construction.
Responsibilities
- Implement strategies to drive growth, improve efficiency, maximize overall performance, and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Oversee the successful execution of projects, ensuring timely delivery, resource allocation, and effective coordination among team members.
- Understand the company's philosophy and systems.
- Understand objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policies.
- Maintain liaison with prime clients and A/E to facilitate construction activities.
- Build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders, foster collaboration, and represent the organization at various meetings.
- Supervise the preparation of all pricing quotations for presentation to the prime customer.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interests and maintain good relationships with the client.
- Provide management, direction, and guidance to multiple subregions for estimating and preconstruction services.
- Maintain a historical database of estimates for metric analysis, ensuring continuous improvement and refinement.
- Able to perform conceptual estimates and have a deep understanding of design/build projects.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate executives.
Requirements
- Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods.
- Excellent communication skills with owners, architects, and design.
- Thorough understanding of several types of design projects and concepts, including design-build, design-assist, IPD, Lean, and LEED.
- Self-starter.
- Make independent decisions and recommendations that greatly affect the profitability of the assigned area.
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Able to perform conceptual estimates and have a deep understanding of design/build projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or other related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the construction industry, electrical contractor.
- Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
Skills
