Senior Director of International Franchise Development
Purpose Brands, the parent company of Orangetheory, Anytime Fitness, Waxing the City, and The Bar Method, is seeking a Senior Director of International Franchise Development to drive strategic growth and expansion of its franchise network globally.
About the role
This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future international growth strategy of the world's largest fitness franchisor. You will identify, evaluate, and secure new franchise opportunities while cultivating relationships with potential franchise partners. The role involves working closely with International Purpose Brands Business Teams to support existing franchise partners and drive growth across multiple brands. Responsibilities include rebuilding sales approaches for one brand and sustaining momentum for another, while translating successful growth models into new geographies and formats. You will partner with Brand Presidents to align brand-specific strategies with broader expansion goals and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure ROI-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive multi-year strategy and execution roadmap to achieve international sales objectives.
- Establish a clear framework for the international sales process, from lead generation to grand openings.
- Lead market research and analysis to identify target demographics, competitive landscapes, and market trends for franchise development.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospective franchise partners, developers, and industry stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, operations, marketing) to develop franchise models, agreements, and support systems tailored to international markets.
- Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of franchise and master franchise agreements in complex international markets.
- Stay current on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in franchise development.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership on franchise development activities, performance metrics, and growth opportunities.
- Share best practices from Purpose Brands’ domestic departments and Franchise Development Team with international master franchisees.
Requirements
- 15 years of progressive experience in international franchise development, franchise sales, business development, or related commercial functions, with a proven track record across multiple countries and markets.
- Extensive experience in international franchise development, including franchise sales, master franchise development, partner recruitment, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Demonstrated success in developing and closing franchise partnerships and launching or scaling multi-unit franchise operations in diverse international markets.
- Proven experience with master franchise or master license sales in complex international markets (highly preferred).
- Track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing complex franchise opportunities with senior franchise partners and investors.
- Franchise industry experience with multi-unit, multi-country businesses (strongly preferred). Experience in QSR/restaurant, retail, hospitality, fitness, wellness, or other consumer franchise businesses is valuable.
- Experience working across multiple international regions, particularly in complex or emerging markets such as Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, or Central Asia.
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity for navigating diverse international markets.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high autonomy and accountability.
- Passion for health and wellness (preferred but not required).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid passport and required visas for international travel.

Schedule
- Hybrid work model: Remote optional on Fridays; on-site Mondays through Thursdays (for U.S.-based roles in Boca Raton, Woodbury, or Seattle).
- Minimum of 8–10 weeks of international travel per year, including solo travel to existing and new development markets.
- Some travel may occur over weekends and/or holidays.
- Work outside normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required, including evenings for events and client hosting.
