Senior Director Hospital Operations I
About the role
Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. As Senior Director of Hospital Operations I, you will lead administrative, clinical, and operational aspects of Hospital Operations departments supporting Mentor and Hillcrest hospitals, providing cross-functional oversight across multiple service areas and departments. You will work across hospital operations, ambulatory operations, institutes, and shared services to support day-to-day performance and organizational priorities, develop and implement quality management protocols, recommend changes to policies and facilities, and serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director of Hospital Operations. This role requires a seasoned operations leader who can navigate a complex healthcare environment, build strong partnerships across departments, and oversee broad operational needs across both hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee administrative, clinical, and operational aspects of Hospital Operations departments under the Senior Director’s control.
- Develop and maintain an effective organizational structure to facilitate facility goals.
- Establish standards and expectations for patient satisfaction; promote and maintain good patient and customer relations; perform patient/customer satisfaction assessments via surveys and questionnaires.
- Monitor the environment and implement changes to ensure patient comfort and safety, as well as employee safety within respective work areas.
- Develop reporting mechanisms and key indicators to describe workload volume and acuity, patient interventions, quality performance, clinical outcomes, and productivity of departments’ operations and services.
- Monitor, analyze, trend, report, and recommend actions to the Executive Director, Hospital Operations based on these indicators to improve staffing patterns, service quality, and/or productivity performance.
- Direct the development and implementation of business plans for new or revised ventures, expansion of services and programs, and acquisition of practices and services, including facilities and personnel.
- Research, analyze data, and advise the Executive Director, Hospital Operations on long-range planning strategies, department organization, financial forecasting, personnel management, patient relations, space and equipment, marketing strategies, and external institution relations.
- Ensure development and completion of the budgetary process for departments, including annual operating and capital budgets, expense and revenue management, and ongoing financial monitoring and reporting.
- Serve on appropriate committees and groups as the administrative representative and disseminate relevant information to departments.
- Promote and maintain harmonious inter- and intra-departmental relationships; represent departments in coordinating administrative and operational activities that interface with other departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Health Care Administration or related field.
- Eight years of progressively responsible experience in a healthcare environment, hospital or health system, including five years of demonstrated management experience.
- Oral and written communication in English.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree may offset years of experience.
- Prior leadership experience.

Pay
Minimum Annual Salary: $143,960.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $230,322.50
The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education into consideration. The displayed range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
