About the Role
Sortable Oncology trials are moving faster than ever. Are you ready to lead the teams driving the next generation of breakthroughs? We're seeking a Senior Director, Clinical Operations to lead Clinical Project Managers and Clinical Research Associates teams, drive strategic decisions, manage departmental budgets while ensuring profitability and compliance. The Senior Director will spearhead process improvements that enhance quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Team Growth
- Direct and inspire the Clinical Project Management and CRA teams.
- Mentor project staff to cultivate future clinical operations leaders.
- Guide study teams through complex problem-solving and escalations.
- Portfolio & Financial Excellence
- Oversee high-value trial portfolios and program management for key clients.
- Partner with Business Development to build winning proposals and defend bids.
- Drive financial forecasting, revenue projections, and resource allocation.
- Operational Efficiency & Analytics
- Establish and expand operational metrics and KPIs to track study success.
- Optimize resource utilization across trials while proactively addressing skill gaps.
- Champion continuous process improvements derived from audits, inspections, and data.
- Stakeholder Alignment & Risk Mitigation
- Cultivate powerful, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide real-time risk assessments and actionable solutions to the VP of Global Clinical Operations.
- Represent the organization at major industry and professional conferences.
What You Need
- Education
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a life science related field.
- A Master’s degree or higher preferred.
- Experience
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive clinical development experience in a CRO (only) or CRO + pharmaceutical (combined) environment.
- A minimum of 10 years of direct line management.
- A successful track record of resourcing/building, developing, mentoring, and leading high performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
- A minimum 5 years experience in oncology.

- The annual base salary for this position ranges from $180,000-$220,000. The actual salary offer will be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies for the role.
