Senior Director, Global Development Technology Solutions
About the role
The Senior Director, Global Development Technology Solutions is the principal Global R&D Technology Solutions (GRDTS) leader responsible for the ecosystem of externally developed digital and technology-related systems and platforms for the Global Development function within R&D. This function includes multiple sub-functions such as Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Safety, and Clinical Development.
As a member of the GRDTS Leadership Team, this role contributes to developing and executing BeOne’s R&D digital and technology strategy, defining necessary technology investments, and driving transparency in prioritization and planning. The Senior Director ensures the strategy aligns with business needs and delivers compelling business value.
Responsibilities
- Digital & Technology Alignment & Roadmap Development:
- Collaborate with Clinical Development functions to understand their scientific strategy, priorities, and unmet digital/technology needs.
- Define and own a multi-year Digital & Technology Roadmap for the Clinical Development organization, focusing on externally/vendor-developed solutions to enable key scientific milestones and align with R&D strategy.
- Scientific Requirements & Solution Delivery:
- Translate complex scientific and technical needs into clear, documented, and prioritized data, digital, and technology requirements.
- Oversee the end-to-end process for identification, assessment, onboarding, development, deployment, and launch of technology systems specific to Development functions.
- Digital Transformation & AI/ML/GenAI Subject Matter Expertise:
- Advise Development teams on ML/AI/genAI-related needs for externally developed systems.
- Lead assessments to identify, design, and implement automation, optimization, and embedded ML/AI/genAI components to enable digital transformation.
- Governance & Risk Mitigation:
- Enforce rigorous data formatting, semantic consistency, and interoperability standards for data ingested from external vendor systems.
- Partner with internal Data Management teams to align vendor system outputs with enterprise-wide master data management strategies.
- Oversee data governance guardrails for third-party platforms to ensure compliance with data security, lineage tracing, and regulatory mandates.
- Change Management & Digital Adoption:
- Lead change management programs for externally developed systems and platforms.
- Manage behavioral shifts required for digital adoption and change management initiatives.
- External Innovation:
- Scan the external landscape for novel digital and technology products to inform Development function needs.
- Digital & Technology SME for Vendor Selection & Management:
- Provide subject matter expertise for the identification, evaluation, and management of technology vendors offering cutting-edge platforms or AI/ML capabilities.
- GRDTS Leadership Team Leadership & Talent Development:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing GRDTS team dedicated to the Development function.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional development.
- Operational Excellence, Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure all Development-related systems and platforms adhere to pharmaceutical industry regulations and internal security policies.
- Liaise with vendors, Enterprise IT partners, audit, and compliance teams to coordinate system implementation and change activities.
- Ensure the team embeds CSV, compliance, and health authority requirements into operational activities.
- Manage the Development function’s technology portfolio budget to maximize return on investment.
- Collaboration & Partnership:
- Act as the voice of the Development function within the broader GTS (Enterprise IT) organization.
- Collaborate with other teams on standards and best practices.
- Engage with peers to define, sponsor, and execute continuous improvements.
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing GRDTS team dedicated to the Development function.

- Product Requirements Documents (PRDs): Detailed, prioritized functional and technical requirement backlogs for platform integration or enhancement.
- Vendor Selection & Proof-of-Concept (PoC) Briefs: Formal evaluations and business cases for onboarding specialized vendor platforms or AI tools.
- Platform Operating Models: Governance structures ensuring development platforms remain stable, highly available, and optimized.
- Team Performance Metrics & Skills Matrix: KPIs linked to scientific delivery outcomes and an actively managed competency framework.
- Succession Plans & Professional Growth Roadmaps: Structured career pathways and talent retention strategies.
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional experience in data, digital, and information technology with direct oversight in Clinical Development-related areas within Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and/or Medical Device industries.
- 7+ years of proven leadership experience at a senior level, directing multi-skilled teams.
- 7+ years combined experience in design, deployment, and support of Clinical Development-focused digital transformation of processes, platforms, and systems.
- Strong experience in ML/AI/genAI methods and technologies to support the Clinical Development function.
- Business relationship management acumen and demonstrable success as a change agent in transformational initiatives.
- Strong experience with software lifecycle methodologies, 21CFR Part 11 compliance, GxP computer systems validation (CSV), and ICH guidelines.
- Proficient in project management disciplines (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Pay
Salary Range: $207,800.00 - $277,800.00 annually.
Schedule
Some travel expected as part of assigned duties.
