About the role
The Senior Director, CRE US & CALA Region is responsible for the management and oversight of the delivery of Corporate Real Estate services to the RBC and CNB businesses throughout the region. The position oversees the regional real estate portfolio, including strategic planning, building acquisition and disposal, delivery of capital projects, facilities operations, and associated annual budgets.
Responsibilities
- Develop, direct, and manage the regional CRE team and drive enterprise CRE strategy through membership of the Global CRE Operating Committee.
- Align the Corporate Real Estate portfolio and services with business strategy by understanding and anticipating business requirements.
- Acquire and manage high-quality premises at the best possible value while maintaining senior-level regional relationships with all RBC and CNB businesses.
- Ensure consistent delivery of integrated real estate services (planning, transactions, capital projects, facilities management, and operations) to global standards.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of RBC and CNB’s premises in line with the CRE global operating model and standards.
- Support M&A activity from a real estate perspective.
Strategy
- Provide real estate expertise, strategy, and direction on all property initiatives to support business objectives, leveraging global Centers of Excellence as needed.
- Track and manage occupancy of RBC premises using data to inform business and CRE strategies.
Transactions
- Oversee execution of property transactions, supported by global Centers of Excellence, to align with business strategies.
Lease Administration
- Oversee efficient execution of lease administration for the regional CRE portfolio, ensuring compliance with regional legislation, Enterprise, and CRE policies.
Financial
- Establish and achieve CRE savings targets in collaboration with the CRE Global Operating Committee and CRE Finance team.
- Ensure regular and accurate financial reporting in conjunction with the CRE Finance team.
- Oversee the establishment and management of the annual financial and capital plans, ensuring adherence to budgets and accurate reporting.
- Deliver expected client service levels within prescribed budgets.
Governance and Risk Management
- Provide governance oversight for all CRE operations in the region, ensuring compliance with CRE, Enterprise policies, and external regulatory obligations.
- Manage risk through consistent application of controls in line with CRE and Enterprise policies, engaging Centers of Excellence as needed.
- Ensure appropriate governance, oversight, and reporting for service partners, external consultants, contractors, and landlords.
- Maintain open channels for escalating and reporting issues at regional and governance levels.
Project Delivery
- Oversee and ensure accountability for the delivery of all construction projects and initiatives in the region, aligning with business case objectives.
- Apply global design standards to construction projects where appropriate.
- Ensure adherence to CRE and Enterprise project delivery processes, practices, metrics, tools, and systems of record.
- Establish and monitor quantitative performance standards, providing timely project and program executive summaries, metrics, and reporting.
Facilities Management
- Ensure effective delivery of facilities management operations across the region, complying with CRE, Enterprise policies, and external regulations.
- Provide leadership and support to outsourced Facilities Management service providers to ensure high-performance service delivery.
- Report breaches of regulatory requirements in a timely manner to appropriate Enterprise contacts.
Relationship Management
- Deploy and execute the CRE CRM model to maintain effective relationships with key business contacts in the region.
- Ensure strong client satisfaction scores through proactive client portfolio reviews and CRE-driven strategies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with functional support teams within RBC, CNB, and key service partners.
- Collaborate with CRE Global Operating Committee members, regional leads, and Centers of Excellence for global consistency.
Training and Professional Development
- Adhere to mandatory training requirements and maintain a development plan appropriate to the role.
- Ensure regional CRE team alignment with RBC policies and standards for training and professional development.
- Ensure direct reports have role-appropriate development plans documented in the Workday system.
Global Leadership and Delivery
- Lead and execute major CRE programs and initiatives to optimize global organizational structure and service delivery.
- Drive CRE organizational performance and delivery excellence through leadership and execution of key initiatives.
- Identify and promote best practices throughout CRE operations.
- Lead the ongoing development of the CRE team’s performance and culture through sponsorship of CRE committees (Serves/Learns/Recognize).
Requirements
- University Degree or equivalent.
- 15+ years of experience in Corporate Real Estate, with at least 5+ years in a senior executive capacity.
- Demonstrable experience managing an international corporate real estate portfolio.
- Strong cost control and strategic business acumen.
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with senior business executives.
- Proven ability to build, develop, and lead teams of professionals, ideally within a geographically diverse portfolio.
- Proven knowledge of all aspects of project management processes.
- Experience managing outsourced vendor relationships.
Pay
- New York/New Jersey: $200,000 - $300,000
- Los Angeles: $187,000 - $265,000
- North Carolina & Minnesota: $170,000 - $250,000
This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, such as a discretionary bonus and benefits (e.g., 401(k) with company-matching contributions, health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, and paid time-off).
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
