Senior Director, Content Design - Consumer and Developer Experience

About the role

The Senior Director of Content Design leads the content discipline for the Consumer and Developer Experience Design team within the Experience Design organization at Capital One. This role is part of the broader effort to enhance digital and physical customer experiences and drive business advantage and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Define the overarching content vision and strategy for a critical product portfolio
• Architect end-to-end experiences that shape long-term growth and competitive advantage
• Operate as a strategic partner to executive Product, Tech, and Design leadership
• Scale the maturity, infrastructure, and operational excellence of the content design discipline across the organization
• Lead a talented team of content designers and leaders
• Collaborate deeply with product design and research teams
• Identify and advocate for high-leverage opportunities with executive stakeholders
• Lead high-impact, highly complex design projects

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in leading content design teams and delivering products to market
• At least 10 years of experience working with and contributing to an established design system
• Experience in a design toolkit that spans content design, product design, service design, and design strategy
• Deep experience shaping scope and opportunities in partnership with executive stakeholders
• Deep experience partnering with product managers, engineers, marketing, and analytics leaders across multiple business lines
• Deep experience interfacing with executive leadership to solve problems, influence key decisions, and drive results
• Experience architecting AI-assisted content workflows, intelligent taxonomy/metadata structures, or automated content generation engines
• Expertise with design and prototyping tools such as Figma
• Experience managing an interdisciplinary design team
• Track record of guiding, mentoring, growing, and inspiring design teams
• Proficiency in business case development, tying product and user experience decisions to business value
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and relationship building across complex organizations
• Exceptional people management and development skills

Pay

Salaries for this role vary by location, ranging from $245,100 to $335,700 annually. For more details, refer to the provided salary ranges.
