Job Summary
The Senior Director, Business Development Forecasting & Analytics role at Eli Lilly and Company is responsible for leading commercial assessments for licensing, acquisition, and partnership opportunities across new or adjacent therapeutic areas. This role requires building conviction in unfamiliar markets and developing forecasting infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial assessments from early landscape scoping through full deal-stage forecasting
- Rapidly develop substantive expertise in unfamiliar therapeutic areas
- Proactively size white space opportunities and track signals across pipelines, regulatory trends, and payer policy
- Design and lead primary research programs with physicians, payers, patients, and channel partners
- Build Lilly's institutional knowledge base in new markets through documented findings and assumptions
- Develop flexible, reusable forecasting models with clear documentation
- Evaluate innovative commercial approaches and analyze channel architecture trade-offs
- Serve as the commercial analytics partner to BD leadership and present forecasts to senior executives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in a scientific field
- 10+ years in pharmaceutical or biotech commercial strategy, BD analytics, market research, or strategic forecasting
- Master’s degree preferred
- Meaningful exposure beyond a single therapeutic area
- Demonstrated track record building commercial conviction in new or ambiguous markets
- Experience leading primary market research
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Deep understanding of pharmaceutical markets
- Familiarity with innovative go-to-market models and pharmaceutical channel architecture
- Confident communicator with ability to present a supported commercial view to senior leadership
- Strategy consulting or life sciences investment banking background
