Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered support in home, community, and employment settings.
- Help individuals build daily living, social, behavioral, and work-related skills that support greater independence.
- Follow support plans, track progress, and complete timely, accurate documentation.
- Build positive relationships with the people we support, families, team members, employers, and community partners.
- Plan and lead meaningful activities based on individual goals, interests, and needs.
- Support individuals with community access, transportation, and participation in work and daily life.
- Respond calmly and effectively in changing situations while helping maintain a safe and consistent environment.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for team members, including helping support the growth of newer staff.
- Partner with supervisors and other team members to support training, service planning, and program quality.
- Step in across programs as needed and support evolving program and service needs.
Qualifications
- Education: 60 or more college units, OR at least 2 years of experience supporting adults with disabilities.
- Experience: Strong experience providing direct support to people with a wide range of support needs, including individuals with more intensive behavioral, physical, or medical needs.
- Skills: Ability to work across multiple programs and adapt to different environments and support needs; experience supporting skill building in community-based settings, with a focus on independence and age-appropriate learning; experience using adaptive devices, communication supports, or other tools that help people succeed; basic technology skills, including mobile phone use, email, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and electronic documentation systems; strong communication, teamwork, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Other Requirements: 21 years of age or older; valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record are required for this role; this role requires travel within the region where services are provided.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Senior Direct Support Professional, you will provide high-quality, person-centered support to adults with disabilities across a variety of programs and service settings. This role is for someone who is experienced, adaptable, and ready to step in where support is needed most. You will support individuals with a wide range of needs, including daily living, behavioral, medical, and employment-related needs. You will help people build skills, increase independence, and participate more fully in their communities while creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. This role also serves as a leader on the team. In addition to providing direct support, you will mentor newer staff, model best practices, and partner with supervisors to support individual goals, staff development, and program success.
