Senior Designer III - Natural Gas

Accountabilities

  • Lead the design and execution of large, complex single-discipline and multi-discipline natural gas projects.
  • Develop and review detailed designs, drawings, and 3D models while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Capture and coordinate design activities across engineers, designers, and drafters to achieve project objectives and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, including natural gas pipeline safety regulations and pressure piping requirements.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve internal design standards, workflows, templates, and quality control documentation.
  • Perform technical reviews of project deliverables, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level designers by providing technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support training initiatives to improve team capabilities and promote design best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to define project scope and resolve technical challenges.
  • Conduct site visits when required to validate designs and support project execution.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate is an experienced design professional with deep knowledge of natural gas systems, industrial projects, and technical leadership.
  • They should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex engineering deliverables.
  • High school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in design and drafting, including leadership responsibilities on large-scale industrial or utility projects.
  • Expert-level proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or Civil 3D.
  • Extensive knowledge of natural gas infrastructure, including pipelines, compressor stations, and pressure control systems.
  • Experience applying industry standards and regulatory requirements within natural gas or utility environments.
  • Strong understanding of permitting processes and compliance considerations.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage priorities, and solve complex design challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business enterprise software.
  • Able to work safely in industrial and utility environments while following required safety protocols.
