SENIOR DESIGNER (ELECTRICAL)
About the Role
Under some direction, routinely plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the Electrical engineering work for the Water and Wastewater, Land Development, Parks and Recreation, and Gas Utility Departments, while interacting with clients and officials for project tasks. Candidates shall be knowledgeable of applicable local, county, state, and federal rules, regulations, and industry practices. Familiarity with public bidding procedures and Local Public Contracts Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 5:34) is necessary. Must have the ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.
Responsibilities
- Designs, analyzes, and interprets data, along with research and investigations.
- Performs load calculations, circuit and conductor sizing calculations, protective device coordination studies, Arc Flash calculations, etc.
- Completes power distribution plan designs, single-line drawings, grounding plans, panel schedules, cable schedules, cable tray layouts, lighting plans, control narratives, control schematics, interconnect diagrams, heat trace drawings, etc.
- Develops equipment data sheets, bill of materials, submittal reviews and approvals, etc.
- Assigns tasks to technical and administrative staff as needed.
- Performs a thorough review of completed work.
- Assists with scheduling and budgetary requirements.
- Assists with proposals and project close outs.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of technical assignments.
Requirements
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- 3 years’ experience.
- PE License Track Preferred.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- 0-4160V applications.
- AutoCAD (specifically MEP and Electrical), Plant 3D, and/or REVIT.
- Arc Flash, ETAP, and SKM.
- 120V-480V single and three phase power infrastructure and affiliated backup power.
Pay
$35-$45/hr, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Full-time position with work hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
