Senior Design Architect

Ferguson Construction offers a rare opportunity for an architect to develop a career in a fast-paced, creative design-build environment. This on-site position is based in one of our four regional offices: Sidney, Columbus, Dayton, or Indianapolis. As a premier Design-Build contractor, Ferguson designs and constructs projects across industrial, commercial, non-profit, educational, recreational, retail, religious, and healthcare sectors. This role leads the design-build process from conception to completion, collaborating directly with craftsmen and internal teams to eliminate traditional adversarial relationships. Project timelines are quick, typically six to twelve months from first contact to completion. The position is ideal for an ambitious individual looking to grow and eventually lead within the company.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute a variety of large and small projects from conceptual design through final detailing across industrial, commercial, non-profit, educational, recreational, retail, religious, and healthcare sectors.
• Complete conceptual designs for new builds, additions, and renovations, considering cost and constructability.
• Work with design staff to detail and assemble construction documents in Revit.
• Develop drawing standards and best practices.
• Prepare and review design drawings, submit for permits, and address plan corrections.
• Lead and mentor designers and co-op students from area universities to advance their skills.
• Collaborate with outside consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal colleagues, including the Director of Design, Architectural and Civil Designers, Business Development professionals, Estimators, Project Managers, Site Superintendents, and Crew Leaders.

Requirements

• Professional degree in architecture.
• Registered architect with the ability to be registered in Ohio and Indiana.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience (10+ years preferred).
• Problem-solving skills with an understanding of construction and client needs.
• Proficient in Revit with knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Quality, deadline, and detail-oriented with a customer focus.
