Senior Day Porter, AHSIC-Full Time 8am to 4:30pm
About the role
Maintain a continuous presence in public and clinical-adjacent areas to ensure a clean, professional, and hygienic environment.
- Perform scheduled and as-needed cleaning of lobbies, corridors, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and high-touch surfaces with heightened attention to sanitation.
- Conduct routine restocking and restroom inspections aligned with medical facility hygiene expectations.
- Manage waste and recycling, including compliant handling of medical-adjacent waste staging areas where permitted.
- Respond quickly to service requests including spills, restroom calls, cleanup needs, and tenant assistance.
- Support medical office tenants with minor room setups, small furniture adjustments, and ad hoc operational needs.
- Maintain a professional, customer-service-focused demeanor at all times, recognizing the sensitivity of medical environments.
- Follow established cleaning standards that reflect healthcare best practices, including chemical handling and sanitation procedures.
- Identify and report safety hazards, building issues, and maintenance concerns promptly.
- Serve as the senior porter for the day shift, guiding junior staff and ensuring task completion to expected standards.
- Conduct opening, midday, and pre-handoff walkthroughs with attention to detail and facility readiness.
- Assist in training new team members on cleaning methods, equipment use, and safety requirements.
- Communicate effectively with night crews and management to ensure continuity of service and cleanliness.
- Support deep cleaning efforts, seasonal floor care, and exterior entry maintenance.
- Participate in emergency cleanup response during incidents, weather events, or urgent tenant needs.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 3–5+ years of experience in commercial janitorial, porter, or facility support roles; medical or healthcare facility experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of sanitation standards appropriate for healthcare-serving environments.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs., walk/stand for extended periods, and respond rapidly to urgent cleaning demands.

About The Team
Atlantic Health System’s Environmental Service Department ensures the cleanest and safest healthcare environment for all team members, patients, and visitors. Environmental Services is responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of common areas, outpatient areas, procedural areas, and patient rooms, including bathrooms, furniture, carpet/hard surface floors, vents, electronics, and patient equipment. The team uses sanitizing processes of the highest quality required by multiple regulatory agencies. Often referred to as ‘the first line of defense against infection,’ the Environmental Service Department collaborates with the Atlantic Health System Infection Prevention and Quality Departments to ensure consistent alignment at all sites.
