Senior Counsel - Employment and Litigation

Responsibilities

  • Manage ongoing litigation, including employment, real estate and commercial litigation.
  • Counsel on employment and compensation related matters, including hiring, discipline, accommodations and leaves, and serve as a liaison to the human resources department.
  • Support the development of organizational policies, procedures and business strategies.
  • Effectively leverage outside law firm attorneys and manage relationships with external legal affiliates.
  • Provide advice regarding compliance with various laws and regulations, including wage and hour and employment practices laws.
  • Supporting the Company in its compliance program, including maintain the Company’s Code of Ethics and Whistleblower Hotline.
  • Manage the negotiation and evaluation of a wide variety of commercial contracts.
  • Assist with additional legal projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate of Jurisprudence from an accredited program required.
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one state.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience. A mix of law firm and in-house legal experience is preferred.
  • Proficient ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proficient knowledge of employment laws.
  • Proficient presentation skills to effectively present information to an audience of varying responsibility within the company.
  • Possess the ability to receive and apply cross-functional learnings; willingness to work in groups as needed so the organization achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives.
  • Demonstrated capacity for gathering and scrutinizing information to identify issues, opportunities, patterns, and sustainable, cost-conscious business solutions.
  • Consistently demonstrates a commitment to GameStop policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities.
