The Senior Corporate Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial operations and supporting strategic decision-making through reliable reporting and analysis. This position is responsible for core accounting activities, including general ledger management, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting support. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with leadership while contributing to process improvements and stronger financial controls.
Accountabilities
- Support corporate accounting operations by ensuring financial records are accurate, timely, and aligned with accounting standards.
- Prepare and record journal entries, including payroll entries, accruals, prepaids, and month-end adjustments.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain complete supporting documentation.
- Review general ledger activity to ensure transactions are properly recorded and compliant with company policies and accounting standards.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
- Prepare recurring financial reports and provide accurate information for leadership review.
- Aid in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice and payment reconciliations.
- Support audit activities by preparing schedules, documentation, and requested financial information.
- Partner with finance leadership on financial analysis, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, strengthen internal controls, and increase operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and business partners while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Provide backup support for accounting team members as needed.
Requirements
- Strong accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger accounting and month-end close responsibilities.
- A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance activities, or financial controls is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to handle confidential financial information with integrity and discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience learning new financial systems or ERP platforms.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment using virtual collaboration tools.
- Experience working within a distributed or remote organization is preferred.
