Senior Controller

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring smooth execution of general ledger activities, payroll administration, and period-end close cycles.
• Produce complete and timely financial statements and verify that results are aligned with accounting standards and internal reporting expectations.
• Develop executive-level financial reports, dashboards, and analysis that support strategic planning and operational decision-making.
• Maintain consistency and reliability of financial information by reviewing data quality and resolving discrepancies across departments.
• Supervise accounting and payroll staff, providing direction, accountability, and support for high-quality team performance.
• Strengthen internal controls and refine accounting processes to improve efficiency, compliance, and overall financial governance.
• Oversee job cost tracking and work-in-progress reporting to ensure accurate visibility into project financial performance.
• Support payroll operations involving in-house, certified, and union payroll requirements while ensuring proper compliance and documentation.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting or controllership experience, including leadership responsibility within complex finance functions.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, internal controls, and regulatory or policy compliance.
• Experience with project-based accounting, including job cost analysis and work-in-progress reporting.
• Background supporting payroll functions, with familiarity in certified payroll, union payroll, and in-house payroll processes.
• Proficiency with Viewpoint Vista and the ability to work effectively within systems used in engineering or construction-related environments.
• Prior experience in the engineering, civil engineering, or similar project-driven industry is highly desirable.
