You’ll have the authority to improve what’s outdated, implement better tools, and provide the financial clarity required for growth. This Controller role is central to building the financial structure to make that happen. About the RoleThis is a hands-on leadership role responsible for both the tactical and strategic sides of finance. You’ll lead core accounting operations while also upgrading systems, improving reporting, and advising on business decisions. You’ll be a key partner to the President and a direct contributor to how we scale across new markets. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations & ControlsLead the month-end close process, including bank reconciliations, journal entries, inventory roll-forwards, and job profitability reviewsMaintain internal controls and ensure compliance with company policiesSupervise AR/AP processes, including invoicing, collections, credit approvals, and vendor paymentsReporting & Financial AnalysisDeliver accurate financial statements and reporting packages to leadership and ownershipAnalyze trends, variances, and cost drivers across departments; translate findings into clear action plansRedesign internal reports and KPIs in collaboration with operations and leadershipCash Flow & Capital ManagementMonitor cash position and manage short-term liquidityForecast cash flow needs and oversee use of credit facilitiesCosting, Budgeting & ForecastingLead job costing and customer-level profitability analysisBuild and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support pricing, hiring, and investment decisionsIdentify and drive cost reduction opportunities across COGS and SG&ATeam & Systems LeadershipManage and mentor a small accounting team; set goals and lead performance reviewsOwn accounting systems and reporting structure; ensure clean, scalable financial processesLead process improvement initiatives tied to automation, efficiency, and readiness for scale What You Bring8–15 years of progressive experience in accounting and financeExperience owning month-end close, reporting, forecasting, and team leadershipStrong understanding of GAAP, cash flow management, and internal controlsAdvanced Excel capabilities (pivot tables, lookups, modeling); familiarity with reporting tools or ERP systemsBackground in manufacturing, construction, or other job-costed environmentsExperience working with private equity ownership or in a performance-driven, growth-stage company preferredClear communicator who can translate financials into business decisionsCPA strongly preferred Why This RoleThis isn’t a back-office Controller job — it’s a leadership seat with operational and strategic impact.Direct line to the President, high visibility with private equity ownershipAuthority to fix what’s broken and build what’s missingYour work will influence pricing, hiring, capacity planning, and expansion strategyYou’ll help prepare the business for multi-market growth while improving internal systems and processesYou’ll be more than a financial gatekeeper — you’ll be a business partner
