About the role
As a Senior Controller you will manage a large team responsible for providing oversight of the financial performance of clients. This role is part of the Controlling job function and focuses on managing the organization's financial controls and preparing financial reports for management and shareholders.
Responsibilities
- Support CBRE’s global delivery model by providing resources and guidance to indirect team members for client delivery.
- Provide global support on processes and lead communications between the Business Services Organization (BSO) team and internal stakeholders.
- Provide formal supervision to employees, including monitoring training and development, conducting performance evaluations, and coaching.
- Oversee recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new employees.
- Coordinate and manage the team’s daily activities, including establishing work schedules, assigning tasks, cross-training staff, and setting deadlines.
- Mentor and coach team members to create a positive customer experience and maintain constructive communication.
- Review work handled by junior team members and provide guidance as needed.
- Prepare complex financial statements and approve audit and tax preparation documents.
- Serve as the point of contact for the implementation and maintenance of accounting and reporting systems, providing technical expertise.
- Assist executive management with strategic department and corporate initiatives.
- Review and verify financial information, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, prior to submission to large and high-profile clients.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex financial issues while ensuring timely, accurate, and customer-focused service.
- Monitor financial performance and provide forward-looking strategic advice to the executive management team.
- Apply broad business knowledge to achieve team and departmental objectives, integrating your discipline with others.
- Lead by example, modeling behaviors consistent with CBRE’s RISE values and influencing others to adopt new perspectives.
- Identify and solve technical and operational problems of complexity.
- Understand the broader impact of decisions across the department.
- Improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within the job discipline.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 5–8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, performance measurement, and retention is preferred.
- Ability to lead sensitive, complex, and difficult conversations, convey performance expectations, and handle problems effectively.
- Leadership skills to motivate teams toward achieving broad operational targets impacting multiple disciplines.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.
- Intermediate math skills, including the ability to calculate percentages, fractions, and other financial-related figures.
Pay
The minimum salary for this position is $130,000 annually, and the maximum salary is $140,000 annually. Compensation will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
